Growing Wings - Episode 5

4pm already? How time flies', Gbenro thought to himself.   He had just got back from class and was expecting Esther. That girl did things to his insides that he couldn't really explain. Too bad she wasn't a Yoruba girl and from a well-to-do family. He couldn't risk annoying his dad by publicly flouting his policy of marrying within the tribe and not crossing class boundar ies. He remembered the one time he tried to stand up to his dad. It had almost destroyed his parents' marriage and almost took his mother's life. No one dared incur Chief Phillips' wrath. Gbenro did not have the strength of character to try. He was just going to have to learn to keep up appearances with Yeside. She was naïve enough to fall for his 'excuses'. Esther was another issue altogether, she was getting bolder by the day. She had started giving him subtle ultimatums. .............................. .............................. .... Wole checked the room number again. ...

'Enjoy your reading', Wole said to Yeside and he headed to his friend's room. He couldn't believe his 'luck'. He felt on top of the world. Yeside talked with him all the way. Who knew that a simple 'E ki wa' could result in that beautiful walk. He wished he had told her that he was going to the Cafe too. But there was Bro Gbenro...Uhmmmm...Bro Gbenro was a perfect match for Yeside. They were both rich and famous...What did a poor orphan boy like him have to offer Yeside? His grandparents couldn't even afford his school fees...Thank God for his tutorial business...He definitely had no business thinking about Princess Yeside. 'Hey, look where you're going dude', a shrill female voice pierced through his soliloquy angrily.... Wole looked up and saw Bro Gbenro with his hands draped around the lady's shoulders. 'Sorry. Good evening, Bro Gbenro', he stuttered. 'Good evening, Bro Wole. How are you doing?' Wole had to ...

About The Tiwa Savage Interview

Tiwa Savage stopped over at the Mid-Day Show with Toolz and the Internet dey para... Here is my summary of the interview. 1. Tiwa is also feeling the effects of the recession as she had to do her own make-up in order to cut costs. 2. She is working on a song with cold play. 3. Her son is shy and may not go into music. She wants him to be the next Neymar so he can buy her a retirement home. (Excuse me, Mama, plan for your own money. Lol) 4. She and TeeBillz' business is their own "ish"... Back off... 5. She is embracing her stretch marks. 6. Her most embarrassing moment was when her zip broke during a performance... I don't know why though since nudity is not an issue for her normally. 7. Per gender equality, SHE (TIWA SAVAGE) believes that women need to be strong but when she (TIWA SAVAGE) is at home, she believes that the man is the head of the home and men and women are not equal. 8. If she were a man, she would get away with a lot more and would n...

Growing Wings - Episode 3

'Oh Lord, please help me with this course', Yeside prayed.  It was quite a struggle catching up after being ill for about a month. The doctor said she had typhoid fever. It was a bit of a struggle for her to decide whether or not to take medication. She really wanted to 'faith' it but it got to a point where she felt she was really going to die!  'Abeg, I'll faith it another time. Na person wey dey alive dey get faith', she reasoned.  'Sister Yeside, ...  e ki wa' Yeside looked up and saw Brother Wole smiling sheepishly at her. She smiled back. 'Where are you going?' She asked. 'I'm going to Green Hall', he replied. 'Ah, I'm heading that way. Can we walk together?' As they walked on in silence, Yeside wondered why she had invited him to walk with her. He just kept stealing glances at her without saying much. She was quite uncomfortable with the silence so she decided to break it! 'What are you going to do in Gr...

Growing Wings - Episode 2

Wole remembered his first meeting with Yeside. Actually, he heard her laughter before he saw her. It was a heavenly sound. He just had to see where that was coming from. 'Oh my God! I've seen an angel and yet I live', he thought as he saw the heavenly vision before him. Before he could find his voice, she was gone. He inquired about her from one of the ladies he saw talking about her and quickly learned her name and faculty. The lady refused to give him her room number and he had to work up a plan to meet her himself. A few days later, he learnt from one of her coursemates who was his next door neighbour that she was at the top of her class. Wow. She was not in the fellowship for about 3 weeks. That was a perfect opportunity for Wole. He got her room number from the Follow-up Coordinator under the guise of following her up to ensure that she was okay. He learnt that Bro Gbenro, the choir leader was also interested in her and had actually spoken with the Pastor abou...
